Here is the weather forecast for the next two days —
Monday (June 13)
- Widespread rains with locally heavy falls and thunderstorms are likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Assam and Goa.
- Fairly widespread rains and thunderstorms are likely over Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Kerala and Lakshadweep.
- Strong isolated falls are possible along the Konkan coast.
- Scattered rains and thunderstorms are likely over Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
- Isolated rains and thunderstorms are likely over Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gangetic-West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh , Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan. Snow will mingle in Ladakh.
Tuesday (June 14)
- Widespread rains with locally heavy falls and thunderstorms are likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Assam.
- Fairly widespread rains and thunderstorms are likely over Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Kerala and Lakshadweep. Locally significant falls are possible along the Konkan coast. Snow can mix in Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.
- Scattered rains and thunderstorms are likely over Goa, Karnataka, Telangana and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
- Isolated rains and thunderstorms are likely over Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gangetic-West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan. Snow can mingle in Ladakh
- Maximum temperatures can be 45°C or more in some places in Punjab.
Summary of forecasts for the next five days

The southwest monsoon has advanced westward from Maharashtra and its northern boundary passes through Karnataka, Tamil Nadu. The NLM will likely advance further north engulfing Gujarat, more of Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and parts of eastern India as we head into the middle of the week. . Additionally, conditions would remain favorable for the continued advance of the monsoon in the eastern parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
Meanwhile, moist southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal will continue to produce precipitation in these areas:
- Widespread rainfall in northeast India and adjacent eastern India with some intense thunderstorms for the next 5 days.
- Isolated heavy falls of up to 120 mm/day or more, especially in sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Assam. As a result, the Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert (meaning “be prepared”) over these regions.
Similarly, westerly monsoon winds from the Arabian Sea will trigger steady rainfall and isolated thunderstorms along the Konkan and Malabar coasts over the next five days.
Finally, the heat in northern and central India is expected to subside leading to:
- Maximum temperatures being normal or below normal from northwestern Gujarat to western Rajasthan to southern Punjab for this period.
- The Gangetic Plain, Central Highlands and Deccan Plateau will also experience cooler highs from Thursday.
- However, overnight lows will be warmer than normal across northern and central India through Tuesday.
