The heartbreaking death of Chrissy Cunningham from Season 4 of Stranger Things has inspired an impressive sculpture shared by a fan on TikTok.
A stranger things fan takes to social media to show off a sculpture depicting the gruesome death of newly introduced character Chrissy Cunningham. The long awaited stranger things season 4 was released on Netflix in two parts on May 27 and July 1 to critical and public acclaim. There was a lot of praise for the short-lived run of Hawkins High School cheerleader Chrissy, played by Grace Van Dien, whose memorable but heartbreaking death resonated with audiences in a major way. stranger things creators Matt and Ross Duffer even admitted they regretted killing off Chrissy after watching Van Dien’s performance.
stranger things season 4 saw the return of several main cast members who have been with the show since its inception in 2016. New additions to the cast included Van Dien as Chrissy and Joseph Quinn as J&D-loving and playing guitar Eddie Munson. The Season 4 premiere episode, titled “The Hellfire Club,” saw Chrissy’s unfortunate demise at the hands of the monstrous new Upside Down villain Vecna, played by Jamie Campbell Bower. As Eddie watches, Chrissy is literally shattered to death, her bones breaking and her eyes sunken. This scene somehow led to a fan creating a sculpture of her deformed body.
On TikTok, user fauxshmoe uploaded a video showing the process of creating the late Chrissy. The video is only 33 seconds long and reveals the figure’s sculpting and painting. Then there’s the haircut and the positioning of the body in the manner depicted on the show. The video also features the 80s hit song “Running Up That Hill” by Kate Bush, which was widely released throughout stranger things season 4 and has since enjoyed a resurgence in popularity.

Fauxshmoe’s work has received a lot of praise from fellow TikTok users, including the official Netflix account commenting with a “shocked face” emoji. This was just one example of stranger things‘ fan appreciation since season 4 began airing. Eddie and Chrissy both became fan favorites and were massively shipped due to their strong chemistry together before the latter’s death. Besides praise for Van Dien’s performance, his death in particular was notable for its barbaric nature. Obviously, it has become memorable enough to be depicted through sculpture as well.
Chrissy could easily have been a typical two-dimensional cheerleader, or maybe even a bully like some characters in stranger things are. Instead, Van Dien brought such charisma and nuance to her performance that it made it unforgettable. Chrissy was someone with a lot of heart and was able to find a brief but notable connection to the unlikely hero Eddie. While this latest fan work depicts his end, it just shows that his legacy lives on with stranger things Fans. She may never come back, but she certainly won’t be forgotten.
