The theatrical animated film One Piece: Red is set to get two major prologue episodes that set the stage for the next big-screen adventure.
One Piece has finally returned to the big screen, with the One Piece: Red movie premiering yesterday, August 6th.ein Japan.
While fans of the series can indeed walk in and figure out what’s going on; the more backstory we can have on the film, the better.
Good news is that the movie is set to get two special episodes over the next couple of weeks that will tie into the movie – here’s everything we know about the One Piece: Red prologue ahead of its UK and US release this autumn.

One Piece: Red will have two prologue episodes
This week, it was announced that the upcoming theatrical animated film One Piece: Red will be getting two tie-in episodes that will serve as a prologue to the upcoming feature film.
As confirmed by the official Japanese One Piece website, the two special episodes will air for domestic audiences on Sunday, August 14.e and Sunday August 21st.
The two linked prologues will be “nested episodes [that] will portray the story more than 10 years before the film.
“In this episode, we can see what kind of time Luffy, Uta, and the red-haired pirates led by Shanks spent in Fusha Village. In addition to Luffy, Zoro, Nami, and other characters from his childhood, from many nostalgic characters also appear.Be sure to watch Luffy and Uta and their stories about their childhood dreams!- One Piece blog post.
Crunchyroll has yet to reveal if the episodes will be available for international streaming alongside the main anime series on the aforementioned dates.

When will One Piece: Red be released worldwide?
The One Piece: Red movie premiered in cinemas across Japan on Saturday, August 6.e.
Early reviews from fans and critics are generally positive for the film, which reportedly grossed 1.06 billion yen on its opening day, making it the third-highest-grossing premiere behind Demon Slayer: Mugen Train and Jujutsu Kaisen. 0 .
One Piece: Red will then be released in French theaters, scheduled for August 10e under the Pathe Films banner, with the Taiwan premiere scheduled for August 19e.
Unfortunately, while Crunchyroll has confirmed that they’ll be releasing the film in US and UK theaters, a specific release date hasn’t been shared – the film is still slated for release this fall.

Toei Animation President and CEO Masayuki Endo told Collider that they are “delighted to bring One Piece Film Red to theaters around the world this fall, which actually coincides with the franchise’s 23rd anniversary. One Piece”.
