With Animal Crossing: New Horizons giving players the freedom to create whatever they want, it’s no surprise that many have used the game as a way to pay homage to their favorite franchises. However, a talented Animal Crossing: New Horizons player has made awesome creations outside of the game, and stranger things is the last property they focused on.
The player in question uses the username washue on Reddit, and they’ve shared several art posts where they combine animal crossing Villagers with popular shows and movies. For example, Washue recently presented some animal crossing art collections based on Encanto and turn red, and both sets of villagers turned out amazing. They went above and beyond with their stranger things illustrations, however, as well as over a dozen designs can be seen which depict both younger and older versions of the characters.
This stranger things and animal crossing crossover art can be seen here, and there are many designs to enjoy. Some of the stars of the original lineup are Eleven and Dustin, with the former’s glare and the latter’s cheerful expression matching the attitudes of the characters on the show. Respectively deer and frog villagers, they are accompanied by Lucas the horse, Mike the bird and Will the mouse. Steve makes a good village dog, while Jonathan suits a wolf and Nancy looks good as a goat. Hopper is a perfect choice for a bear, while Joyce works like a rabbit.
Other villagers include Max as a fox-like wolf who resembles Audie, Robin as a cat, and Murray as a koala. Season 4’s additions are real show stealers, with fan favorite Eddie Mudson looking like a devil. Vecna also looks terrific, with the show’s horrifying villain sporting ghastly skin and making for the perfect octopus villager. The artist even included variations of Robin and Steve from the Glacier and Will the Wise, showing their commitment to celebrating the show.
With other characters from stranger things like Billy and Papa not getting villagers, perhaps Washue could share some more awesome designs inspired by the series. Anyway, they knocked it out of the park with these concepts, and many Redditors praised them for their hard work. Alongside 9,000 upvotes, several commenters were quick to call out the villagers they would like for themselves Animal Crossing: New Horizons islands, with Eddie being a particularly popular choice.
Considering that other stranger things tributes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons have been shared, like a recreation of “Chrissy Wake Up”, it’s clear just how popular the Netflix series has become. With one more season on the way, fans may have even more characters and moments to pay homage to soon.
