mahesh babu: I got many offers from Bollywood but didn’t feel the need to cross over, says Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu

Southern star Mahesh Babu said on Monday he was happy the lines of what constitutes Indian cinema had “blurred” with blockbuster performances of Telugu films across the county.

The actor-producer, one of the biggest stars of Telugu cinema thanks to his films ‘Businessman’, ‘Srimanthudu’, ‘

Ane Nenu’, ‘Maharshi’ and ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’, said that rather than portraying himself as a pan-Indian actor, his aim was to make Southern films a national hit.

“I always wanted to make movies in Telugu and I wish people all over India would watch it. And now when that happens I get very happy. I always had this strong opinion that my strength is the telugu movies and the emotion i understand is the telugu movie emotion.

“Today the emotion is so strong, the films have become so big that the lines have blurred and it has become Indian cinema,” Babu said while launching the trailer for his upcoming film venture. “Major” production.

The 46-year-old actor said he has received many offers from the Hindi film industry but he doesn’t feel the need to cross over.

“I may sound arrogant, but I got a lot of offers in Hindi. But I think they can’t pay me. I don’t want to waste my time. The fame and the love I have here in Telugu cinema, I never thought of going to another industry. I always thought that I would make movies here and they would get bigger, and my belief is turning into reality now. I can’t be happier,” he added.

“Major,” a multilingual biographical drama is based on the life of the martyr of the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attack, Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan. Starring Adivi Sesh in the lead role, the film is directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka.

The film is produced by Sony Pictures Films India in association with Babu’s GMB Entertainment and A+S Movies.

The project marks Babu’s first production effort in which he does not star, but the actor said he was “proud” of the hard work of the team.

“I saw the film last night… And I just want to congratulate the whole team. I’ve seen so many films, I’ve had so many cinematic experiences, but when I saw this film, I I just walked out of the screening and was silent. I didn’t say a word, everything I saw on the screen stuck in my mind. I just hugged Sesh,” said he declared.

More than pressure, the movie star said there was a ‘responsibility’ to tell Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s story in a

way.

“I don’t think there was any pressure on us, but there was a responsibility. The only pressure the team felt was to tell this story in an appropriate way,” he said. , adding that his wife, former actress Namrata Shirodkar, was more involved with the ‘Major’ team on the ground than him.

And as the film nears its June 3 release, the actor-producer doesn’t care about box office numbers at all.

“The numbers game doesn’t make me nervous. I think when you’ve made a good movie, you’ve made a good movie.”

‘Major’ also features actors Prakash Raj,

, Sobhita Dhulipala, Saiee Manjrekar and Murali Sharma in key roles. The film will be released in Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi.
