Celebrate all things anime with attendees at the 6th Annual Crunchyroll Expo this weekend in San Jose, Calif., Crunchyroll, the global leader in providing the ultimate anime experience for audiences worldwide, shared many exciting announcements during its industry panel on Saturday, which included announcements of new show acquisitions, exclusive first looks, fan-favorite movies coming to the streaming service, and more.
The announcements kicked off with an exciting update that Crunchyroll will be rolling out the red carpet to welcome some of the most beloved anime in cinematic history to its platform, including the cult sci-fi classic. Akira directed by Katsuhiro Otomo, the fantasy modern romance Your name. by director Makoto Shinkai (Suzume no Tojimari, grow old with you), as well as director Mamoru Hosoda’s critically acclaimed catalog The girl who crossed time, Wolf children and The boy and the beast. Fans will start seeing new movies released on Crunchyroll every Thursday from August 11 through October.
Other highly anticipated titles include Afro Samurai: Resurrection with Samuel L. Jackson, the tale of tales of Josée, the tiger and the fishdramatic romance The stranger from the shoreand the coming-of-age sci-fi story Sing a little harmony, among many others, including those from popular anime franchises Free!, Fairy tale, PSYCHO PASS, Code Geass and black butler.
Additionally, the hit movie JUJUTSU KAISEN 0 will also premiere on Crunchyroll starting September 21. The prequel film to the critically acclaimed anime series JUJUTSU KAISEN from TOHO Animation released outside of Japan, across the world, earlier this year. The film is based on the previous manga (JUMP COMICS / Shueisha) of the hit supernatural adventure series written and illustrated by creator Gege Akutami.

S2 of the dark fantasy series will follow Bam as he continues his journey through the mysterious tower. A new recap trailer and key visual have also been shared ahead of the upcoming anime sequel. A recap trailer for Season 1 was shared during the panel with the English dub cast along with a new teaser video. A message from the director of season 2, Yasufumi Soejima was also shared:
